Error: JobTraQ could not be registered, because it was unable to save the license certificate.

Error:
When JobTraQ® is running on Windows 2003 Server, I get the following error when I enter my license key: "JobTraQ could not be registered. Error: Unable to save the license certificate."

Common Cause:
This error can occur when JobTraQ® is installed on Windows Server 2003, if the file system permissions could not be set correctly. As part of the licensing process, JobTraQ® needs to create a new file in the /bin directory under its web root. If the installer fails to give JobTraQ® permission to write to this directory, the licensing process will fail.

Resolution:
Depending on your server’s configuration, JobTraQ® will run as one of two accounts. Those accounts are “NETWORK SERVICE” and “IIS_WPG”. To fix the licensing problem, you can grant Modify permissions to those two accounts by following these steps:

  1. Open My Computer and navigate to your JobTraQ® web directory (most likely, C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\JobTraQ).
  2. Right-click on the “bin” directory, and click Properties.
  3. Go to the Security tab.
  4. Make sure that both NETWORK SERVICE and IIS_WPG are in the list of user names. If they are not in the list, add them.
  5. Select NETWORK SERVICE in the user list, and check the Allow Modify checkbox in the Permissions section.
  6. Select IIS_WPG in the user list, and check the Allow Modify checkbox in the Permissions section.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Re-enter your license key into JobTraQ.
