Error: JobTraQ could not be registered, because it was unable to save the license certificate.
Error:
When JobTraQ® is running on Windows 2003 Server, I get the following error when I enter my license key:
"JobTraQ could not be registered. Error: Unable to save the license certificate."
Common Cause:
This error can occur when JobTraQ® is installed on Windows Server 2003, if the file system permissions
could not be set correctly. As part of the licensing process, JobTraQ® needs to create a new file in
the /bin directory under its web root. If the installer fails to give JobTraQ® permission to write to
this directory, the licensing process will fail.
Resolution:
Depending on your server’s configuration, JobTraQ® will run as one of two accounts. Those accounts
are “NETWORK SERVICE” and “IIS_WPG”. To fix the licensing problem, you can grant
Modify permissions to those two accounts by following these steps:
- Open My Computer and navigate to your JobTraQ® web directory (most likely, C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\JobTraQ).
- Right-click on the “bin” directory, and click Properties.
- Go to the Security tab.
- Make sure that both NETWORK SERVICE and IIS_WPG are in the list of user names. If they are not in the list, add them.
- Select NETWORK SERVICE in the user list, and check the Allow Modify checkbox in the Permissions section.
- Select IIS_WPG in the user list, and check the Allow Modify checkbox in the Permissions section.
- Click OK.
- Re-enter your license key into JobTraQ.
