Installation: Installing MSDE (Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine)

If you do not have a copy of Microsoft SQL Server 2000, JobTraQ is capable of running on Microsoft's free MSDE 2000 database engine. MSDE is functionally equivalent to the full version of SQL Server, except that it has limits on the database size and number of simultaneous users. Because of these limitations, Swift Software only recommends using MSDE in non-production environments.

If you would like to install MSDE from the JobTraQ CD, follow these steps:

1. Run the MSDE installer from the Support directory on the JobTraQ CD.
2. Accept the license agreement.
3. Click Next to extract the MSDE files to C:\SQL2KSP4.
4. Once they are extracted, open a command prompt.
5. Go to the C:\SQL2KSP4\MSDE directory.
6. Run this command, replacing AStrongSAPwd with a password of your own choosing:
   setup SAPWD="AStrongSAPwd" SECURITYMODE=SQL /L*v C:\MSDELog.log
